My name is Amy Crawley. I am very excited to apply for the Visual Arts Technician position at St Leonard's College. I am extremely enthusiastic and driven by art and education, therefore it would be with a great honour to be considered for this role- that truly suits me as a professional and person. From your job description and my understanding of St Leonard's College - I have taken time to understand and ingest what the key values and job role entails. I believe I am a great candidate, whom is deeply devoted to education and is motivated to work closely with your visual arts department, doing whatever is necessary to make every class successful and meeting the aims and objective of the art curriculum, and assisting the continued success of classes. I believe this makes me ideally suited for the job. I have experience with multiple educational art settings as well as artistic equipment maintenance/use.

In my previous roles, I have proven experience in: 

- I have my own part-time business trading as Amy Crawley Photography and Art Studio running art educational workshops for children and adults as well as photographing families, couples, and products for small businesses.

- I worked for Riot Art and Craft as an educational art workshop teacher and assistant manager for their retail store for 4 years. Gaining skills in working with and teaching art classes to children and adults, displaying, maintaining, and preserving artworks for artists of the month in exhibition spaces within front windows of retail stores, ordering, and inventory of stock for workshops whilst facilitating and providing safe and supportive environments, adhering to OHS protocols and legislations.

- Undertook two placements/ student work experience studio art and history teaching roles within Mt. Eliza Secondary College while studying a Master's of Teaching (Secondary) at Monash University. My time during this placement reflects my understanding of how a Visual Arts Department is run, how to assist teachers and students. I assisted my mentor teacher within the Studio Arts department with organizing stock and inventory of stock for lessons, aiding my mentors' lessons (example: organizing clay for ceramic lessons and aiding students using printing presses, etc.), hanging and maintaining students artworks, assisting on school excursions, etc and running my own lessons created to cater for curriculums. 

- My time studying and completing a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts) at RMIT University. I learned about art history, how to practice as an artist as well as archival artwork processes and equipment maintenance. I also learned and undertook a variety of artistic methods and learned what is important and necessary to succeed and undertake those tasks, whilst staying enthusiastic, inspired, and well-focused. Additionally, I developed further skills regarding the processes and methods of visual art mediums carrying out different methods of art and using a number of different resources to create.  

- I hold a current Working With Children Check, First Aid Certificate and Drivers Licence held. 

- I am also a practicing photographer who is nationally recognized with exhibitions featured at the festival hub of Head On Photo Festival Sydney 2017 and 2016 and Sydney Museum Head On exhibition 2016.

My love and experience for art and education are evident in everything that I have done and continue to do. I am extremely excited to be considered to extend this passion to St. Leonard's College.

Riot Art and Craft Assistant Manager and Acrylic Pouring Painting Workshop teacher
2016 - 2020 ( Store closed due to COVID-19 and company liquidation)

I worked for Riot Art and Craft as an educational art workshop teacher for Fountain Gate, Knox, and Frankston stores and as an assistant manager for their Frankston retail store. Gaining skills working with and teaching art classes to children and adults, displaying, maintaining, and preserving artworks for artists of the month in exhibition spaces within front windows of multiple retail stores, ordering and inventory for the stock for workshops whilst facilitating and providing safe and supportive environments, adhering to OHS protocols and legislations. In 2019 I undertook a Holcroft brand/ Riot Art and Craft Acrylic Workshop ambassador role selling, exhibiting Riot Art and Craft's Holcroft products as well as teaching a free High Flow Acrylic Pouring Painting demonstration at the Cardina Art Society's Resin and Flow expo.

While working as an assistant manager in a retail art store I also gained skills in:

Work Experience/ Student-Teacher Placement at Mt Eliza Secondary College 2017 and 2018

I worked as a Student-Teacher at Mt. Eliza Secondary college for two placement sessions while studying for a Masters of Teaching at Monash University. I worked in the art room with multiple classes - different year levels and different types of students; gaining experience with working with students as well as how school art departments run. My role entailed artwork and equipment maintenance, hanging artworks for student exhibitions, assisting teachers and students within the classroom, assisting on school excursions. I also worked in the wood tech room demonstrating and aiding students on how to use different types of equipment. I also had experience within the history classroom engaging and supporting students from different year levels in history lessons and on history-related excursions. I experienced so much during my time at Mt. Eliza Secondary College including creating, running and marking lessons. I have placement reports written by my mentor at Mt. Eliza Secondary College which is available on request. 

 

Self Employed Part-Time Photographer and Educational Art Workshop Teacher at Amy Crawley Photography and Art Studio.

2013 - present

I run a part-time photography studio and educational art workshop classes in a conjoining building to my home in Narre Warren North. I educate children and adults in different artistic fields such as painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, alcohol ink, and hydro dipping. I have worked for a number of different small business clients and families creating engaging imagery.

Spectrum Entertainment is a City of Casey Council volunteer group that organizes and runs music and community events around the City of Casey. I took Publicity and Promotion workshops along with an Event Management course through Blue Print for Succesful Events and a unit of the Certificate Two Plan a career in Music through NMIT.

 

At Spectrum Entertainment I undertook a variety of different jobs over the course of working there for 3 years such as Event Manager, Event Assistant, Stage Manager, Stage Assistant, Event Photographer and Videographer, Front Door Payments, Front Door Security Assistant, Band Area Security Assistant, Canteen Worker, Cleaning and Set-Up Manager and Graphic Designer of Promotional Material.
